Anybody here using Google Earth?  It's a excellent program with very detailed aireal photos and maps.  All of the maps and photos have the ability to be tilted and rotated to show 3 Dimensional features of the terrain.

I highly recommend this program to ANY hunter (no matter where you are located, this program has you covered).  Best of all, the program is FREE!

There are some system requirements and if you don't have a high speed (broad band) connection, don't even try to use the program.

Minimum configuration for PC:
Operating System: Windows 2000 or Windows XP
CPU: Pentium 3, 500Mhz
System Memory (RAM): 128MB
Hard Disk: 400MB free space
Network Speed: 128 Kbits/sec
Graphics Card: 3D-capable with 16MB of VRAM
Screen: 1024x768, "16-bit High Color"

Recommended Configuration for PC:
Operating System: Windows XP
CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz+ or AMD 2400xp+
System Memory (RAM): 512MB
Hard Disk: 2GB free space
Network Speed: 768 Kbits/sec
Graphics Card: 3D-capable with 32MB of VRAM
Screen: 1280x1024, "32-bit True Color"

You can download Google Earth FREE version here:  http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Here is a screen shot of the detail you can see with this program.  It does the same thing with terrain ANYWHERE in the world:

sometimes i used google earth and i can't see my house cause it's all fuzzy and what not.  I agree though that when the mapping works you are able to see awesome footage that is very benifical for any hunter.  I have used it alot up here on the tundra because i'm not use to the area and it gives you a great chance to see what your up against

You are correct.  I should have mentioned that.  Smaller buildings in outlying areas are not nearly as detailed as the buildings in major cities.  For me, it makes no difference as I am not interested in looking at cities very often anyway.  wink

Well my home town isn't that big and it doesn't really shot that, and one person i know that lives in the county can zoom in on their house and you could see every detail of their homestead.  i think it's cool and i would suggest it to anyone.

I have used Google Earth many times.  It's fun just to look up famous landmarks and see an aerial view of them.  If you look at my house you can see that Veggie wasn't home when they took the photo because her car isn't there.

I agree, Nic.  I can easily eat up an hour just checking out the area surrounding our property.

Also, it gves me a good way to spy on the neighbors without tresspassing! cheesy

MoHunter and Bluebird

If this only shows a portion of your property, just how much property do you have? This looks like a huge spread.

Here you go Beretta Babe.  This is about how our property line looks.

Close, Nic, but not quite.

Here you go:

The main parcel is 360 acres, the smaller parcel at the top is 50, and the wedge shaped parcel on the top left is 30 acres.

I think it would be great to live out like that.  I used to live on a farm.  Unfortunately, being a single mom, the job choices out in a rural area aren't the best and it is hard to make a living.  So, back to the city, I came.  If given the choice and being able to afford it, I would be gone from KC and quick.

I'm spoiled now.  I'd sooner get a job scooping up horse poop before I would move back to the city. wink

If scooping poop paid enough to feed the kids, I would love it, but they want to have new clothes also.  Maybe when it is just me again.  My youngest, the only one left at home, is 14 and she is like Veggie, from what I gather.  Both of my kids like the city life.
