I am going to be visiting family in Oklahoma in the Checotah area this spring.  I am curious hog the populations are in this area, and how much hunting pressure is there?  Can't beat the price (free) for a license, lol.  Just looking for some good information resources.

It seems to me that TomKat has done a little OK hog hunting in the past.  He might be able to offer some insight.  Welcome to the forums, jjh!

Oklahoma is a great place to hunt wild hogs. I went a bit west of OK City, it was a good time. I hope to go again some time.

I have done a lto of research on the ODWC site and seen that link before, but thatnks.  I'm more curious if I'm going to be able to get into any on public land.  There's quite a bit of it in the area I will be hunting.  I'm also considering putting an ad in a paper, local to where i will be staying to solicit permission from landowners.  This has to be a DIY trip, no guides, so gotta figure out my best places to target

When I googled Oklahoma hunting I found info on available public land and I think it was on the ODWC site.....TK might be able to add more as I've flown over Oklahoma several times but was never on the ground.....

I actually paid a guide and we were near Hinton, west of OK City. We went on private ground. I have heard that their are hogs near Tulsa as well.

I hope you shoot a hog and post some pictures for all of us.

The ODWC site showed good concentrations southeast along the Texas border.....maybe contacting a guide may help with information whether you hire him or not.....
