Was out through the bottoms this morning after a workout at the gym......passed several canals in a new and not quite developed business park and one fairly decent sided pot hole......three of the canals were holding between a few and a couple of dozen birds resting on the open water.....I stopped at the pot hole and watched close to three dozen Mallards....they were quite active with a lot of Drake chasing Hen action....next time out that way (which is quite often) I'll take my camera.....

That would be lovely....Tom, you need to get a pet mallard. You could keep him in a kiddy pool in your back yard....

That would be a nice pet....Chris' grandpa Max used to talk of the days of hunting over his two live decoys.....

I've had live decoys by landing a bunch in the dekes before shooting time.....course after 30 before sunrise they were on their own.....

Of course the kind with clipped wings and a string on a leg are illegal today and not only that, if you get caught by MDC you are going to have to deal with the Feds also....DOUBLE TROUBLE....

Not just mallards....two days ago I was at the gym working out and two woodies flew right by the window and this morning as I walked out of the gym six woodies  landed in a secluded pond in a park next the Mark Twain Mall where I work out....Mark Twain Mall is anchored by Bass Pro Shop....BTW I was leaving the gym about 8:55 and the line outside of Bass Pro was about 50 yards long....

285 was a little heavy and my knees were killing me....I was about 235 when I quit smoking almost 6 years ago and I guess the weight kind of snuck up on me.....my college football playing weight was 210 and I'd like to get back there....I got on the scale this morning at 257...not there yet but making progress....
