Somedays are simply better than others-
I got up very early, loaded up the truck, and headed to my cousins house. He had a very promising ranch for us to hunt. He is friends with the land owner, who had been complaining of large groups of coyotes near his cattle at night. So we set out to help the rancher, guns in hand and death on our minds.

This is our first stand. It looked great, and produced nothing-

While I had the GOOD camera out, I took these for Blue Bird-

On the way out, we noticed fresh bobcat tracks next to our foot prints going in...we were not alone!
Here is stand #2. Purity, aint it?

We walked in about a half mile, using careful woodcraft and being as quiet as possible. I have always been a fan of the MOJO coyote decoy, and had it with me. I had no sooner set it up, sat down in the stand and picked up my gun when 2 coyotes came out of the tree line behind us about 30 yards away from Cousin Mike. They were close, and NOT doing what we expected...except they were totally focused in on that decoy. About the time I figured out what was going on, Mike shot the coy dog with his .22 Hornet, and I fired a hapless shot at the fleeing bitch dog. Unknown to me, the coy dog was heading directly at me on the run. I barked to try and stop his mate, and that bark sent the wounded dog out in front of Mike again. He fired again, and we had a dog on the ground with out even taking a call out of our pocket. If goes to show you one thing- if you know how to approach the stand correctly you help your odds! In this case we had the sun at out back and the wind in our face.
Here are the "glamor shots" if you will. We were both pretty pumped up over having a pair of dogs come in on us this close.

I took this picture from where Mike was sitting, notice the dog on the ground

Not the Alpha dog, but a nice one-

And my first official hunt picture with my new truck-

Here is stand # 3, we didnt see anything here

All and all, a pretty good way to spend a Saturday!
