Man you are killin' me with those pictures .... they are great .... I didn't realize how big the Eiders were....they appear to be about the size of a blue or snow goose....

The largest duck in North America, and the most rarely harvested...

Could you give a comparison to a mature mallard? Is it twice the size or close to that?

Could you give a comparison to a mature mallard? Is it twice the size or close to that?

They are at least half again bigger than mallards, maybe a little more.  The pacifics (Somateria mollissima v-nigra) are even bigger than the american eider (Somateria mollissima dresseri) commonly found on the north east coast, and those guys are big !!!
