We saw caribou on several occasions.  We stalked within 100yds of this group, they never knew we were there...






Rock Ptarmigan, WOW!!!  Game little birds, I'd hate to think how many miles we walked and how many mountains we treked over chasing these critters.

The way I understand it, those are cows, the bulls have already dropped their antlers......

The way I understand it, those are cows, the bulls have already dropped their antlers......

Female caribou do not loose their antlers like the males do.  Female antlers develop from June to September and are out of velvet by late September. The females' antlers are retained throughout the winter. Pregnant females drop their antlers within days of calving. Barren cows shed their antlers before the spring.
