Yesterday, after church and finishing up some bookwork, I coldn't stand it any longer. I grabbed the "new to me" H & I, 7'6", 2/1 bamboo fly rod I picked up a couple months ago, (thanks SKduck!!), and headed fer the creek!
I only had a couple hours but there was a little midge hatch coming off so I didn't get skunked. Two, 10-11 inch trout. One caught on a dropper and the other caught on a #18 caddis. The one caught on top was a real acrobat with two big jumps. One of which had to be over 3 feet. Not a lot of action but got to try the "new" rod and felt a fish tug on bamboo. And it was just a great day to be in Gods creation.

I used to fish with gloves and insulated coveralls but I got over it.

blue, yes. Just below the Hwy. 63 bridge. First time I'd fished that stretch since the floods last year....what a difference they wrought in that creek.

As I recall that's not a lot of water at the bridge. I suppose there are holes that harbor catcable fish. Is that in one of the special trout areas. Actually, I'm not recalling a lot of water but I'm seeing it in late July and early August.

There are actually several long pools below the bridge once you're beyond what you can't see from the highway. Lots of riffles too. And, from just above the bridge to Lane Springs there are 4 other springs that come in. One of which has a spring creek not much smaller than Lane. The flood last year really rearranged the creek.

Yeah those floods seem to rearrange a lot of sand and gravel. Also new snags and other features are created. We used to try to float the Courtois in the spring at least once when the water was running over the hog trough bridges. Great ride and the only paddleing required was to control the canoe and keep up with the current in the tough spots.

Alright, Vic, you are making me have "withdrawls". I guess I need to start coming up with a fishing plan..... Yeah, a plan where you and me catch a Blue cat on a rod and reel
