For the new trappers out there some of the best advice and what all should know.  Location of course is everything.  When setting for coons you want the best location possible.  Bobcats and k9 if you see sign set on it and wait as they might take a week to come back, but coons are different.  No sense setting a coon trap to wait a week for it to hit, if it can be half a mile away and catch several in the same time.  Water and food are the key.  Lately my kids and I are trapping close to the house just playing, but are setting in the creeks that border our standing corn food plots for the deer.  We ran 14 traps this weekend and only 10 this week.  5 checks and our total is 36 coon, 1 mink and 3 opossums.  Now imagine if I had out all my 150 coon traps.
Pockets sets in the water are very productive where you see the coons are walking the edge.  Also if there is enough sign to set a trap I will set no less than 2 and up to 4 or 6 at one location.  And yes they will all hit and when walking up to the sets in the dark it is a good feeling to have 8 or 12 eyes looking back at ya.
Blind sets set right in a dry path work wonders to.  Just put a small stick or something in front of the trap so they have to step over onto the pan.
Live traps also work in old buildings and barns.

Will check back in with more pics and info on predator sets when I start on them in a couple of weeks.

Good luck to all and be safe,
