Sorry for no posting for a while. Been in the field with detasseling crews. Things will be back to normal sooner than later.
Looking forward to getting the......Mrs. DL will get a kick out of it.

Yesturday was a scouting day as we approach the opener. We cut some corn for our pits and layouts. Then went over to the lease to check the roost. Some ducks are starting to show up. We saw a few mallards on one pond and nice bunch of gadwall on another. I couldn't see far enough to the other end but I think there was a small raft of little ducks prolly teal on another pond. Glad to see we're not chaulked full as we are still 3 weeks from our opener here in the central zone.
Sounds like we've got some geese moving in on our northern ground up by the Daley Regime so we might be look'n at a bean field assualt between now and the opener here. The north zone comes in the 17th.
I really hope it dries up so we can get our crops out. If it doesn't and we don't have dry harvested fields and we do get a big push we'll get the fly by.

Well we've got our first hunt of the season lined up. I'll be joining a buddy on 11/13 over at Sanganois which is part of the Illinois river water way. We've had a lot of rain in recent weeks and the blinds are flooded to the roofs. So they have now declared that "river rules" will apply. What this means is instead of drawing in for where you get to hunt you can go anywhere, i.e. where the ducks want to be.
If the weather cooperates and the legands about that particular date do not apply, it sounds like we may be in good shape.
Our season comes in Halloween but due to late harvest this will probably be my first hunt on the 13th.
