I have been woking on my quacks and feeding calls. Using a Knight and Hale poly and a Duck Commander Cutdown...the Cutdown is wooden, and I think it actually sounds better. Any one else like wooden duck calls?

TK, I have a diamondwood call that I use for working birds in close, I use the acrylic to get their attention and then when they start coming in I switch to the diamondwood to bring em' in for the kill.

Well if you aren't going to use the crank then remember three basic calls:

1. High Ball - be sure to use your diaphram ... once you learn to push with the diaphram the call will be
    naturally easy ....

2. Quack - they are comming in ... just say quack and the call will do the rest ....

3. Feeding (alternating with quack) - you are about ready to "TAKE 'EM" ... this call is like triple tonguing
    a trumpet ... just say TICK - A - TICK - A - TICK - A - TICK - A - TICK - A .....

Good luck on D-Day ....

Glad to see your supporting my boy Buck Gardner......He's a great great guy and a great duck caller, you can learn a lot from his stuff.

I like his tall timber call, but I LOVE my Duck Commander Cut Down call....plastic just don't sound as good as wood to me. I hope the ducks like it.

My go-to call is a wooden Yentzen Sure Shot that I picked at an estate sale quite a few years ago! there was no finish on the call then and there is none now....  It calls when I need it...It is ugly in a world of beautiful calls but it is a meat call...
