hey y'all i had a great time at the get together this weekend and i can't wait to do it again. maybe next time tom will have some more tannernite and i will have more ammo and we'll get the bang, boom we were expecting.  wink  my mosin seems to be pretty darn close to bein on, i just wasn't doin my part i reckon, but with what little i paid for an accurate piece of history i am very happy and i should see some good results at the CMP shoots coming up. big grin

thanks for letting me use the block to practice some archery technique and thanks for lettin me burn up some ammo with the handguns. i feel pretty confident that if it was life and death that i could stop an aggressor and protect myself or others without a problem. the only thing left to do is get my CCW license taken care of and get a handgun of my own for some target shooting and defense.

i'm sorry i had to run out on everyone just before supper, but i had my prior obligations. boy you guys had some fine cuts of meats and i love BBQ. next time i will definitely be there to sample some of MOhunter's and Bluebird's good cooking. if anything i will bring my smoker and do some ribs next year, and you can hold me to that.

by the way, if you have seen the first transformers movie then i highly reccomend the sequel. i liked it better than the first.

i will definitely be game to get together with y'all and do some clay shooting anytime, just give me a holler in advance and i'll try to get a weekend off to do some shooting. i don't have a shotgun of my own at the moment, but i'm willing to buy plenty of shells if someone would be kind enough to let me shoot theirs.

thank you SKduckhunt for swappin out those 20ga. for 12ga. those #6's will come in handy anytime i might happen to get a chance to do some squirrel and rabbit hunting with my grandad's 12ga. i hope those 20ga. shells work great in your wingmaster.

if any of you want to get together and do some dove hunting this fall let me know. i'd be glad to meet up with you all at any piece of conservation land and try my luck at my first wingshootin adventure. may not get any, but it's fun enough spendin time in the outdoors, with good people and making noise.

hopefully next year is cooler and more of the members can make it out so i can meet the rest of the gang here at midwest.

Vic, Joyce, and Brian - Thank you so much for all the kind words.  It was our pleasure to have you all out and all of you are welcome back any time.  I can't tell all of you how much we enjoyed getting together with you!  You all helped confirm what I have known all along; that the people here at MHS are fine, upstanding folks!  Thank you so much for your participation, your friendship, and your camaraderie!

Keep your eyes open for the official MHS 2009 get-together picture thread.  Should be up later today. wink

A big hearty THANK YOU to the Shoffners for their hospitality at the get-together last weekend. And thanks to the rest of the MHSers who braved the heat to share their ammo, food, and company. I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, and I look forward to future events.
I completely forgot to leave the clay birds that I had in the trunk - I hope you guys had enough to shoot after dinner.
Vic, I was actually impressed with the accuracy of your rifle - having never shot through a peep site before - I was surprised that I actually hit the target!
Once again, thanks to all for a great time.   smile

Tom - We actually ended up having plenty of clay birds.  I believe if anything, we were short on ammo. big grin

It was great to meet you!  I hope to be able to get together with you again one of these days for some fishing on the Missouri River. wink

Just can't say how much I enjoyed myself over the weekend. Thank you so much to the Shoffners for your hospitality. A drive like that is well worth it when you're in good company and get such an education as the one I got this weekend as a new handgun owner.

It felt just like home down there (minus the highway speed limits, low taxes and the right to bear) Thanks to everyone for not giving me too much crap for residing in the regime of ILL A NOY  rolleyes

Forunately I think Mrs DL and I are heading over to Indiana for the 4th where once again we'll be able to escape the chains we we're lightly on our wrists.

Catch ya'll later!

DL - It was our pleasure.  Like I said in the other thread, I felt as though we had been friends for years once I met you.  I guess all of our conversations on the Hannity boards, here on MHS, and our few phone calls were more meaningful than I might have thought.

I will say that I am yet to meet an MHS member that has not been a wonderful person.  We've got some great folks here, to be sure.
