I am sure that would be a .35 Whelen

Jim, what bonded bullets have you used on bears? I am thinking about using 180 grn Nosler Partitions out of my .30-06

Sorry. .35 Whelen is correct. The 250 gr is right at the top end size wise for that cartridge. They make a 280 gr A frame but it just is a little heavy to perform at my caliber. The 225 and the 250's seem to be the best fits as well as the 200 right in the running.

I hope I get my bear first so I can sit with you and see what that load will do for you as far as a bang flop...that ought to be a real finisher.

Aaaaaaaa..............You made me think on that one. huh? huh? I did use a 230 gr bonded bullet (from WY Bonded Bullets) in my 375 Win Contender. I think I used a 140 gr Barnes X (might have been a Serria 130 gr SS bullet) in a 7-08 in my XP100. I did kill two other bears with jackets bullets but I was using Winchester factory ammo. One was the 7 mag with the 150 gr PP (my only rifle kill) and the Winchester 45 win mag using a 250 gr bullet. All the others I used cast bullets on.
