With the topic of the mp3 sound files going, I thought I would show people how to make a easy e-call for less then $50.

This unit that I am going to show you was not thought out, it was just something I threw together one afternoon before I went out hunting.  You can use your imagination and really get creative with this.

Basically I will start off with showing you the finished product first so you will have a better idea where everything is at in these pictures.  I made this unit in a larger box for a reason.  I wanted to be able to carry everything I need with me for the hunt in this one container.  It just so happens to be that this one container is also my caller.

Now I started this project off with a power megaphone I got at harbor freight.  I was hoping that I could rewire the built in amp so all I would have to do is plug in my mp3 player and go.  Well, that didn't work so I ripped out the mega phone amp and hooked the speaker up to an external amp I got at Radio Shack.  For the speaker, it can be pretty much anything.  Most people will use any kind of mega phone style speaker.  You can find those all over the place.  Radio shack has the speaker by its self that is all wired up and ready to go.  I just ended up with this one.

As you can see below, I didn't really try very hard in mounting the speaker in the box.  I should have taken my time and done it right.  But this worked.

So now that the speaker is mounted, all you really need to do is plug it into the external amp.  The amp uses your normal headphone jacks for the in and out.

Now just plug your mp3 player into the amp, turn the amp on, turn the mp3 player on, and rock the house.  For the cable between the amp and player, you will need a double male wire.

All and all everything to make one of these can be purchased at Radio Shack.
You will need
1. Speaker
2. Amp
3. Male to Male cable
4. Jack to put on speaker wire
5. MP3 Player, Tape Player, CD Player
6. And whatever you want to do to hold everything

You can search the web and find a lot of ways this setup can be arranged.  Some will take apart the amp and integrate it into a new box and have all the controls on the outside of the housing.

This is what I wanted so I could keep ammo, calls, batteries, or whatever in there and you are ready to go.
