pay attention to the weather, esp which direction the wind is coming from...It will help in setting your decoys, if the weatherman is correct.  and remember north wind COMES from the north  not to the north...higher winds and poor weather may make for better shooting and bird movement, but it is rough on the hunter, esp going to a river blind and coming home in the dark on the river...no duck is worth your life.

Decoying ducks can be a difficult shot if you haven't made it before birds are usually losing altitude and sliding side to side. Hit the sporting clays range if you can.

Crap! That falling shot is the hardest one for me at sporting clays. Pheasants and quails are normally rising shots, I can handle that.

TK,  I know what you mean,  that teal shot--> straight up and right back down is tough.  If I don't hit it on the top I can never get ahead for enough to break clay..

Hey TK: go to your local Sporting Clays and get on the stations that play the Landing Duck, especially if you can get one over water. This is a great station to stand there and take all 50 targets. Shooting at em over the water also helps you track your lead. Cokeleys has one of these or at least he used to. I personnally have not taken this advice, I talk a good game, but rarely go shoot clays. I'm about to talk myself into it though. Sounds like fun. Gotta get back to work
