If all you know about Omaha is what you’ve seen on your directv Chapel Hill Travel Channels then you’re in for a surprise – it’s actually a pretty cool little town! There are numerous outdoor activities nearby just calling for a weekend trip – here are a few of our favorites:
Henry Doorly Zoo – It’s one of the best kept secrets in the Midwest and it’s a great spot for kids and adults alike. If you want to get outdoors but don’t really want to scale any mountains then Henry Doorly Zoo is a good bet.
Chalco Hills Recreation Area – Just outside the city is miles and miles of green space in the Chalco Hills. It’s where the locals go to hike and get away from it all – why not take your bike or just some sturdy shoes?
Creighton University – You wouldn’t think a University would end up on an outdoorsy list but boy does this school have a pretty campus. Spend hours just walking around and find out what all the fuss is about – make sure you end up on the north lawn for a picnic!
